I am a first-generation American. My parents immigrated to the U.S. from Beirut, Lebanon in the midst of a Civil War in the 1990s and have lived here (in New York City) since. I still have strong ties to Lebanon and identify as Lebanese-American. In fact, much of my artistic practice references Lebanon and the Middle Eastern Region.
